In how many places do I need the VIN number displayed.
Thanks

you only NEED one and thats the number being stamped in the chassis but most have two, one being the chassis and the other being a plate riveted on somewhere looking pretty
2 on the drivers side.
at sva, only the one in the engine bay was checked, probably because we were late, ironically because i spent time the morning before the test
stamping the second one
hey ho,
tom
beat me to it, i'm sure the paperwork from LDO said it must be stamped in 2 places. definitely one then

We just had one in the engine bay and it passed
I showed them the obvious one and they asked where the other was and checked it. It's on a plate tack welded on and it was accepted.
DVLA lassy told me one main plate is required but advised stamping in a few more places as a theft deterrant as well. Unfortunately she said they are
wanted cars and more key identifying features means easier to ID if it is ever stolen.
I have been known to weld my initials into steel brackets and put marks on key parts.
