Not too bad then but did he not allow you to do a quick fix on the first two fails?

Did you remember to wind the TRE's out to give self centring?

What year blade engine have you got fitted?

steering colum seams tight slacked off top joint and it is tight up by the steer wheel ,yes stuck some trim on pass , but the gas test well rich . but still me one happy chappy , tester nice bloke, very helpfull , still not much to re test ,98 rrx tried to go sensible for a few miles on the way home (god these welsh roads nice and twisty) well good fun pity road wet so not too hard but it pulls well sill trying to master the clutch or is it the on/off switch Lenny

Winding the TREs out would give positive camber wouldn't it (tops of wheels outward as viewed from front)? This is opposite to what is desireable isn't it?
Cheers

I think he means the track rod ends on the steering rack to give toe out rather than positive camber using the transit TRE's which are used as an upper ball joint.

Cheers

Oh!

can someone explain to me what the TRE is, because I have a problem of self centering too and I don't know how to solve it ?

TimC - 8/10/05 at 08:50 AM

Well done mate - nearly there! Looking forward to chasing you around Llandow!

dom 7. TRE is Track rod end.
People tend to wind them out a couple of turns to give toe out in an attempt to improve the self centering of the steering.
IMHO (in my humble opinion) this is not the correct way of correcting the problem.
The correct solution is to increase the castor angle . (The angle the pivot line of the kingpin is off from the vertical)
I am sure someone will now shoot me down in flames but what the heck.
