Just wondering if there is an online guide to the legal side of kit car building - i.e. whats needed for registration, SVA etc.

I bought a donor kit so do not have a V5. I know I'll only be able to get a Q plate, but is this process any harder?

The totalkitcar website has a very good guide to filling in the forms.

The SVA requirements are best found in the SVA Manual, available from the DVLA - it's fairly readable and clear, and is a definitive statement on the reqs - anything else is an interpretation of those rules.

Getting a 'Q' plate car registered is the easiest route, as you don't have to justify getting an age-related one.
