Guys, placed an order for a 6 point 3" sabelt harness at Donningon. Now having a worry that despite the FIA approval it might fail SVA. Has anyone got through with the Sabelt racing (non E marked) harnesses?

What sort of buckle do they have??

I know that most centres dont like aero release

but its got full FIA compliance till 5 years from today!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twist release is not as easily operated as the seat bely buckles in normal cars. Plus you will need the markings.

My sva guy said harnesses were ok as long as they securley mounted and push button release. But Im still gonna do the test with standard belts and swap over after.

Yeah me too. One of the "upgrades" is remove 2" 4 point sabelt harness and install aero style, whoops sorry twist release, 3" 4 points possibly 5 or 6.

My car passed with the 'aero' style four point harnesses from Luke.

I did discuss this point with the SVA man prior to and during the test. His response was that they needed to release whilst the belts were under tension (if you were hanging upside down in them - for instance) and with one hand.

If they did both these things Ok then he would pass them whatever style of buckle it was. This was at the Nottingham Test Centre (M1 Jct 26).

That seems a much more pragmatic approach to it. Wearing an aircraft multi point belt at work on virtually a daily basis, I struggle to see how it cannot be operated with one hand or when under tension.

I know TRS belts come with a litte lug on the buckle which would help that, I cant see why theyd favour a push button type over an aircraft type though.

Does anyone have the actual wording from the manual as it seems a bit open to personal interpretation (not unlike much of the SVA )

I have Sabelt 6 points with quick release buckle and passed SVA without question Didnt have the crotch stap fitted for the test though.

The only time they cant be operated one handed is when doing them up. This was a pain when in france and having to jump out of the seat at nearly every toll booth.
