Evening,
Had a rummage through the SVA manual and although it mentions colour of the indicators, it doesnt mention whether this is the colour of the actual
lens or the flash which it outputs (ie white lens with amber bulb)
I know many cars come fitted OEM with white with amber bulbs but seeing as its not mentioned it would be a silly thing to get wrong.
Ive got some odds and sodds lying about here from vauxhalls (good for the radius I think) and the like, but I think, they have an angled bulb holder
which could make them a bugger to fit.
Whats everyone else gone for?

you can pass MOT with clear lenses and a coloured bulb, but im not sure about SVA. If in doubt, ring them!
Yeh, thatll be the final word I guess. Im assuming it will be the same as MOT bearing in mind the book doesnt stipulate and that new cars come fitted
with them.
Worth the check though
Thanks
Rich
Ours passed the SVA with smoked side repeaters and orange bulbs, they are E marked so I would presume there SVA compliant.
On my everyday car i've also got clear side repeaters with amber LED's which are also e marked that have gone through a few MOT's fine
SVA Manual she say: Direction indicators,/ One each side. front-one, rear-one, side repeater-one/. All vehicles/. Colour Amber. The approval mark on the side repeater is stated as, "E" or "e" or BS Mark... (from 1/4/86)... is 5. Hope that is of some help. Chippy
No comments at SVA time re. my Clear Side repeaters with Amber bulbs so should be OK.
I passed with smoked oval side repeaters and amber bulbs. They weren't even e marked.
(Mind you I had a set of yellow square Ford ones, from the donor in my bag, just in case)

Ive been told that the latest edition SVA manual has some exemptions for 7 type vehicles - one being that side repeaters are not required. Could be worth checking out - my manual is dated from Mar04 so i cant vouch for this personally although i was informed by a learned manufacturere friend of mine who subscribes to all the updates.
Well that would be nice! Not sure its right though......Oli.
Does anyone have the new book? Would be interesting to know what all the new changes affecting 7's are.
Cheers for the replies.
Which type of indicators are peeps using?
Ive seen a few cars now with Corsa type oval ones, and some others which I dont recognise.

Ive got oval blue ones with yellow bulbs. Not been sva'd yet tho. Mac#1 used same repeaters on their police car demonstrator and passed.
There's always been a bit of leeway on their positioning on open bodied cars because of the fitting position not being the extreme outside edge of the vehicle but I've not heard of any exemption from fitting them. Could you post a reference to the section it's in. I'd be tempted to ring and ask about that before I left them off.
