Anybody know if the engine compartment needs to be fully sealed from the driver & passenger footwells?
I'm thinking that allowing air from the engine compartment, down over the footwells, via a hole(s) in the shelf would provide a certain amount of
heat and also help exhaust the heat from the engine bay. I would later plan (post SVA) to install a heater radiator and fan to assist.
However the main question is ....... would the holes be OK for SVA?
Should be. I am not aware of any rules that say otherwise... I think its only motorsport that require fully sealed firewalls?

No, not required - see pics in my archive - give nice warm feeling in winter, though may need to block in summer
Oops, there aren't any - I have a 10" square hole in front of scuttle from engine bay to footwell (drivers side only - passengers can get
cold feet)

Fine if you have a really good engine and all the crankcase and rocker breathers going back into the manifold pluss a 100% leak free exhaust otherwise
you will choke! You might be better running a bit of duct from just behind the radiator to the passenger compartment, if you can run it carb side you
might even get away with bathroom vent duct if it is hot side of engine, flue liner or flexible heating duct would work.

Don't think fumes from engine /exhaust are a problem especially without a screen.
having been in a seven with a slight oil problem, you won't choke, but its not the nicest of experiences.
Smelling like an oily hand rag your idea of fun then is it?
