exposed chassis tubes
Bluemoon - 7/2/06 at 03:15 PM

My internal chassis tubes (MK indy chassis) are currently exposed, on the side pannels (e.g. no internal pannel) and across the top of the foot wells, is this o.k for the SVA or will it fail on sharp edges on the box sections?

Cheers

no problem with this on side panels.

I protected across the top of the footwells with foam.

I wonder if a panel from the foot well tube to the dash edge would be an idea to cover the tube and underdash area, or is this not needed?

As above on side panels - tyre probably okay.

Footwell tubes - they depend on whether they are inside or out of the exemption zone.

At my SVA Ive got a foot rest for the passenger which has a 3 rows of 4 1" holes drilled in them. Due to the angle of incline of the foot rest the top row of holes came within the examinable zone and were initially considered sharp edges and dangerous to occupants - solution was to fit blank gromets to the holes to make a smooth surface and remove the posibility of injury.
