Does anyone have a contact name for someone at the SVA office in Leighton Buzzard............I need to find out if I can use a Honda column and switch gear mated to the Sierra column triangular end.

thanks

Can't help with your question, but I would suggest that you would need to satisfy them that your jointing method is sound, also the triangular bit is the collapsible bit for the sierra column so if you weld or bolt to it you will probably no longer have a collapsible column which could be an issue.

Apart from being an issue, would you want to use a non collapsible column?

As long as the Honda column has a collapsable section or retains the sierra sliding triangular mount then this combination should not be a problem for SVA. They only look for key features of design rather than where they came from.

I was going to have my sva done at Leighton but was warned off the place as the inspectors were born out of wedlock, apparently they are not very helpfull.....
but this isnt a first hand experiance...

The idea is to keep the Honda collapsible section and weld the triangular end to that just beyond where it passes through the bulkhead.

Hmmm, if LB are not helpful are there any other friendly inspectors I could talk to.

I have heard Derby are nice people...
if you go on the gov sight you can pull up a list of all the sva centers, i think there are contact numbers as well, but be warned if they are testing they arent going to want to be pulled away to chat on the phone.
