my friend has just got a honda black bird engined kit car and it needs an sva test before its road legal.

We havebeen looking the car over this morning and are both new to kit cars.
Do bike engined kit cars need a lamdba sensor as there is on in the exhaust but not wired to anything??

also the fuel tank has a pipe but not breather does it need a breather?

we have hundreds of cable ties holding the wiring in place.

If your engine is post 1st August 1995, you will require a cat fitted for the SVA and the lambda sensor connecting up. As CalvinX has already stated, most manufacturers will rent you a cat purely for the SVA. Once it's passed SVA it will no longer be required, hence why few people buy one.

Your fuel tank will also require ventilating, unless of course it has a ventilated fuel cap. A length of hose from a breather on the tank looped to the top of the back panel and back down, will be sufficient to pass SVA.

I have read that a twin cat setup as been successfully used to get through the SVA, I have a small car CAT just under the exhaust manifold which is wrapped to hold as much heat as poss, then a second cat in the form of a bike exhaust can with a built in CAT.
