I've just got in from work after the DVLA man inspecting my car in my absence this afternoon to find my SVA appointment waiting for me. I only
applied 8 days ago and they've booked it for next Tuesday at 8:00am
I'm just not ready
That doesn't even give me the required 3 working days to cancel it
HEEEEEELP.
The engines not tuned. I don't stand a chance of passing emissions test.
Speedo's not set.
They were all supposed to be done on the rollers the end of next week.
Question is do I go for it and see what it fails on or try to cancel?
Any chance of bringing your session on the rollers forward a bit if you explain your situation?
I would still say go for it anyway, as then you will know of any other areas where you need work. Plus a retest isnt that expensive if you need
one.
David
call work in the morning tell them you have one of the 48 hour sickness things
What rollers you going to ?, try and bring that forward (if its just tuning and speedo, your so near driving go on do it )
If all that fails (getting on rollers in time) I would do as much as I could and take it anyway, chances are it will/could fail on some other silly minor things, if it does, get them sorted, get it on the rollers, re test then a nice MAC cert n on the road.
Get it sorted man!! You've got four full days before your SVA. Should be a doddle...........
Personally, I would have phoned the SVA centre before applying, to find out the current waiting time. Isn't hindsight a great thing.
Phone the SVA centre and ask if you can move it as you weren't expecting it so soon. I got a phone call asking when I wanted it. Then went and
got flu, the day before I phoned up explained and they moved it for me without making me pay the fee.
I went expecting to fail first time but passed after playing around with the handbrake at the test.

Most seem to be saying "go for it" so I think thats what I'll do.
Wont SWMBO be impressed?
Working on the car Sat, show Sun then final prep of car Mon. This is gonna cost me I just know it is.
for emissions, try and get hold a loan LM-1 or LC-1...and just sort the idle - should take about 30 minutes if you've got mappable injection.
This script makes is a doddle..

Try phoning them first thing in the morning and seeing if you can cancel it for a full refund or move the day, they might be ok about it. If not just
go for it, its unlikley (but not impossible) that its going to pass first time anyway, so at least you will have a list of jobs to tick off then you
know it will pass the second time. Retest is normally only £30 as long as the list of jobs isnt too long.
Edited to add, they can be really reasonable, when i went to my SVA test the engine wouldnt start after i had pulled up, even though i had stopped at
the petrol station a mile down the road. I was so gutted, he felt sorry for me so gave me full refund. If its next tuesday then the thursday, friday
and monday should be the 3 working days notice.

you could borrow my lc-1 if i were closer than 300 miles
You're not likely to pass first time anyway so you might as well go for it even if you're not ready. You have 4 wheels right?
I've taken the cowards way out
Phoned the centre and was told they had slipped me into a cancellation slot and were half expecting the call.
Very nice lady has changed it to Fri 12th at 08:00am. happy now don't have to rush around so much.
thanks for all the advice.
I'll give that program a try stevebubs. If I can work it out. I've not seen that one before.
