building classic locost seven, almost book.
But, bought parts from my brother and never got round to pursuing the documents of the donor car.
removed all the major components, pictorial of dismantle of donor, all in line with needs of age related plate.
Found out that he didn't register car and has old style documents.
am i gonna get a Q?
do you mean that he didn't transfer it into his name?
If so then I'd say no. fill out the new owner bits on the old type v5 to your details and then sorn the car.
Out of curiosity why would you consider being allocated a Q plate as being screwed?
I can't find an engine number still stamped on my block !! a Q plate is the least of my worries

im going for a q plate, no hassle for emmisions at mot, still need a cat for SVA though
As the engine is then only compoent on my car that is not new, I could actually go for a new reg, never mind an age related. But do you know what, I
can't be bothered with the hasstle of the paper work and the tougher MOT emissions tests further down the line so I am also going for a Q
plate.
It make zip all difference to me what arrangment of numbers and letters appear on my number plate. And in my experience, it makes no difference when
selling/insuring either.
I echo the others.. what is the problem with a Q plate??
In my opinion, a Q on the plate lets everyone know that you did build it yourself, rather than possibly buying off the shelf. Ditto above comments.
Its my understanding that the dvla try to avoid q plates at all costs these days. They will probably send out a VOSA officer or similar from your local office to inspect it and you'll get an age related number. Im going for a new plate with my appropriately worded receipts
