Engine Age - Proof

Do I need to prove my engine age at the SVA or with the DVLA ?

The engine's a 2003 R1.

Cheers, Lyn.

AFAIK, if you don't prove the age of the engine they will put it through the most recent set of emmisions regulations. Being a 2003 engine I suspect you'd go through them anyhow, so I don't think it's of any value to you.

For a pre cat engine how do we prove age? Is a copy of the donors log book enough?

I believe so; otherwise a letter from the manufacturer or a copy of the burton calatlogue showing Ford engine numbers usually satisfies.

Letter from manufacturer is the only sure fire way.

Supposedly getting wise to the "Yes, the Mk III cortina had a Duratec in it" argument
