OK, now for the stupid question.

When ringing these guys what info do you need? I'm guessing you need the engine number (duh!) but do you need the donor vehicles chassis number or any info like that? Being a tight wad, £1 a minute is a lot when you can't find the right information to give them.

All they need is the engine number and your address for return letter. I sent them a fax, or how about an email to their fax number.

Ford have to have the request in writing, my missus phoned them this morning, turns out my pinto is a may 1974 vintage....

If you want an idea of the age of your engine before ringing Ford then there is a table in the front of the Burton Power catalogue. It covers every month from 1965 to 2000.
