My insurance is to start 23rd of June and I paid for it two weeks ago. SVA 27th June.
I had an agreed value of £13K on the proposal etc, but I now have been informed that I cannot have the agreed value until the car has a
registration!
That would mean if I had an accident on the way to sva, that I would end up arguing with them over my loss.
They said they couldn't give me a 'market value' until they had a photo of the car with the reg number on it.
What the hell does market value have to do with a reg plate on a totally unique hand built car?
It looks like I am going to cancel my policy and trailer it there.
You may struggle to cancel the policy - if you read the smallprint, it says no refunds on cancelled policies. I had a similar issue - the second SVA
being outside the time limit for the insurance. Eventually, I threatened with the ombudsman and got a refund.

They told me I would get a full refund, because the policy will not start until 23rd June.
I can't be bothered to ask as I recieved a letter to the same effect. Plus this 30 day, no plate, you lose your premium clause is another
concern.
Trailer it there is my only answer.

I have just cancelled my polocy with Adrian Flux as i would not be able to get a reg number to them within 30 days or even a further 15 days so rather
than loose all my money i cancelled the insurance. I paid £217 and received £165 back!!!! They said the difference was because i had to pay a
cancellation fee to the actual insurance company who insured my car and another for cancelling the brake down
I must admit they were very helpful and did all they could to find my covering letter (before the 2 week deadline) which turned up there late.
Not sure wether to go with them again though?
I think the idea is to discourage people from faffing around with an unregistered car.
In fairness to Adrian Flux - they're only a brokers, and it's often the insurance companies themselves who are the PITAs.
As for trailering - that's what I did in the end. it's an extra hassle, but at least you know that you'll arrive on time, with no
problems and/or hangups.

can anyone answer my above question
how are you trying to insure your car through them
ie a full years cover without it being registered
as I say I pay them 21 quid for a day thats it theres no 30 day limit or whatever
check you dont have to insure the car on a trailor aswell
I insured my car as if it were an everyday normal car and they insure for 30 days on the chassis number. After 30 days if you do not give them a reg number the polocy is cancelled and you loose your money. If you speak to them nicely they will sometimes give you another 15 days to get registered.

they charged me 90 quid (years premium) and asked me whats it worth I said 9k they were happy with that
then all the paperwork theyve sent agrees with the above

I just phone up a couple of days before Im going to SVA etc
I insured mine with Footman James - Agreed value of £10k whilst being built (cost of bits and labour)
When it's finished I will increase value to £15k
Footman James are ace - I insured on a chassis number and just have to update them when I get reg. No faffing around etc.
£230 fully comp, european cover, legal, breakdown etc.
I know my policy is running and my car can't be driven - but I'm building no claims and it's guaranteed against theft - plus no £21
surcharges if I wanna nip to MOT or SVA - £21 a time is expensive
MOT - £21
SVA - £21
Fail retest - £21
That's £63.00 already!
I'd move away from Adrian Flux - they were poo when I rang them - hence Footman James.

we'll agree to disagree then because when i phone up Flux they were the only one who would insure a car for a 22 year old thats does 0-60 in

I phoned both Adrian Flux and Footman James, got a quote from Adrian Flux of £630 for me (21) on a 2.0 pinto with 3000 miles limited milage and 3
points for speeding.
Footman James was £512 for the same, but inlcluding european breakdown cover (handy for le mans!)
Phoned back Adrian flux, they would match the price but couldnt match the breakdown cover.
Went with FJ for the following reasons.
1. Cheaper
2. Euro breakdown cover
3. No limit on time for registration (I was caught out in this before and lost £100+)
4. They were alot friendlier, and even called me back so i could speak to the same person and didnt have to sit waiting on hold.

Just had exactly the same from them, car was insured with NIG, through Adrian Flux. I am now in a battle to get "some" of my two hundred odd quid back. One thing for sure they will not be getting my buisiness in the future, brokers, or not, I am there bloody client, not NIG. Grrrrrrrr! Chippy.

My car is now insured and with no time limit on the reg number/sva.
Cost me £18 less than flux (now only £205 fully comp), plus has all the recovery/roadrage/highjack cover thrown in.
