Filler neck petrol clips
James - 29/6/06 at 10:09 PM

Firstly, this assumes that if you can't use regular jubilees for the fuel system then you can use them for the filler neck either:

I need four large clips to hold the filler neck parts together....

I've spent a ridiculous amount on 'little bits' recently (over £300! ) and I really don't want to spend 20+ quid on the special stainless (two metal bars wrapped in a piece of metal held together with a bolt) type... can I get away with using regular exhaust clamps? They presumably have the same effect as in they spread the clamping pressure equally around the pipe not encouraging kinks/gaps.

Basically 50p each instead of a fiver!

Painted a nice silver or black!

That gonna be okay for SVA?

Cheers,
James

Jubilee clips are fine for SVA certain factory built kits use jubilee but fuel hose clips are and look better.

Fine for the filler neck you mean? Because I know some have failed for using jubilees on the fuel lines.

All fuel hoses are secured by jubilee clips by certain factory built kit cars and they have no problems, mind you i took no chances and used fuel hose clips. I also think different SVA centres have different opinions.

If you want to use Jubilee clips just make sure they are stainless. The degreasing nature of fuel fumes can make them rust IMO

I used jubilee clips on both the fuel line, and the tank filler, absolutely no probs. That was SVA'd at Southampton, and they are a bit picky there. atb Chippy

i had proper clips on anything that would be sat in petrol, but jubilees on the filler neck.

they were never mentioned at sva, but i did have to try prove that the filler pipe was petrol proof, so the area did get a good going over.

i'm using a mix of jubilee and proper clips on the new build as it won't be sva'd.

I got stainless jubilee clips with the filler hose i bought from Burtons.

I'm hoping this is going to be OK for SVA.

Pipe and clips were under £15.
