how do I get one? Do I contact my nearest SVA and speak to someone for an appointment? (I think I have all the forms; just need to fill them in )

maybe once the appojtment is set, it will give me motiviation to do all the pointy bits....

(someone point me to the kit car site that lists the procedure - unable to find the link at the mo'

You just send off your forms with a cheque. You will probably get an amateur build declaration a week later to fill in and return..........then you wait!
I rang Vosa after another 3 weeks to find out what was happening to be told that my forms had been released to the test station 2 weeks earlier!!!
I went to the test centre because the phones were crapola.
Because of holidays and a broken computer, I could not get a date.
Eventually I did, so time from posting to date................9 weeks!!!!!!!!

Should give you plenty of time to finish those bits!

Hi mate,

Yup as said - just post off with a cheque - make sure you keep the chassis number the same after completing that form though

Also - ring them after 1 week - if you haven't receievd an amateur build decleration - I didnt it got lost in post and delayed things significantly.

GOOD LUCK

Murray

I rang the Nottingham centre, was told waiting list was about three weeks, burnt the midnight oil filling the form in, posted it last Thursday, received the amateur build form Monday, posted it back Tuesday, got rang this morning by the SVA centre and could have had a test a week after Monday. I going a week later, but three weeks from filling in the form to doing the test ain't bad in anybodies books

slightly off at a tangent; chassis number; I sent in my proposed one which was okays in as far as it has not been used but what is to guarantee that won't change when I send my forms off???

(I'll not stamp it until that time).

That's interesting.... mine got 'lost in the post' as well!

Had to chase twice before it turned up.

Cheers,
James

Design your own vin and look for a vin checker on google. Make sure that your number does not exist.
Your amateur declaration will require you to state that the vin is ok. ( you do not need to provide proof on the declaration only say that it is ok).
Remember that you can't use certain letters like I Q X ( you will need to check the sva manual for the list).
