Blackbird Clocks and SVA
Mike S - 25/7/06 at 01:42 PM

I am now getting to sort out the dash on the GT-1 and am planning on using the standard bike clocks.

I have seen quite a few cars with the Blackbird instrument pod fitted.

Will the standard instrument pod pass SVA on edge radius, or do you need to cover with perspex or something?

Anyone had experience with this and the SVA man.

Cheers

Mike

It depends where you mount the clocks, as some (if not all) may fall within the exempt area around your steering wheel.

Not much room behind the steering wheel on a GT-1, so have had to mount over to passenger side, mostly outside exempt area.

I have seen several cars around with this kind of arrangement. Just wondered if they have been through SVA like that?

Cheers

To get my sharp edged R1 clocks through, I made (sorry a mate made) a wooden surround with a perspex front and double sided sticky taped it to the dash.

Thats a good idea fesycresy.

That would do the trick, and if it fell off after SVA well never mind?

I would lend it to you, but I gave it to MAC1. Burnt to a crisp by now.

Thanks for that.

I really feel for the guys at MAC#1.

Should not be a big problem knocking something up though.

Thanks for the idea.
