Hmm never knew that one,
You only need your two wing mirrors for the MOT (I was told by the tester as I was desperately tranna get it to stick back on in the tin top )

Like ya say not too bad at all, better luck next time.

I argued the case that the full area required to be visable in the mirrors was covered by the Two wing mirrors fitted.

He AGREED and then brought me a copy of the sva manual covering this point. It reads,

NOTE 1.Obligatory mirrors required are one INTERIOR mirror and one OFFSIDE exterior mirror. (for lhd cars the offside is the passenger side). If the interior mirror rearwardfield of view requirement cannot be met a nearside exterior mirror must be fitted. An interior mirror must be fitted unless it would provide no rearward vision (eg obscured by a solid bulkhead.)

if you've got no screen and its mounted on the scuttle how can it be defined as an 'interior' mirror? I believe it would be better classed as a 'centre' mirror

would this happen to be the one where it must be square vertical to the road?
If so, how much was yours 'off' ?

mine is a wee bit angled towards the rear panel, and im wondering how much I can get away with before they would fail it.

That'll be how Vans get away with it.

Hmm suppose the "interior/middle" mirror is or some slight use.
Ours was on the scuttle and the SVA tester said he could see enough in the wing mirrors,
but moved the centre mirror slightly over to the passenger side and you could see much more out of it, so have a play before you fix it down!.

Mine was a fair bit out. I loosened the housing a put a bit of rubber hose in to level it out. The tester wanted the beam to be at its brightest when he knelt down 20 meters. Not all testers want the same.

Hope this helps.

The tester wanted a way of checking the light system worked from the interior. My switch was broken and only flickered intermitantly. The light should stay on for the full travel of the Handbrake. (according to the tester.)
