Apart from light............what would i hope to see?

Dipping to the Left?

Stu16v - 30/8/06 at 07:59 PM

What type are they - halogen or sealed beams?

With halogen, they will *usually* have a flat beam image, with a kick up on either the left, or the right hand side. Left is good...

Sealed beams will usually be a splurge of light. But the light will visibly dip to the left when on dip beam, compared to main beam. If they are for UK use...

They are sealed beams,

Just gone and got it from the shed..........

They are Wagner sealed beams, and they have no -----> or anything like that on them.

EDIT:

Just googled 'wagner sealed beam units' and 99% of the results are yank pages

I used to have 'Wagner' sealed beams on mine. If they are OK (mine were), quite frankly, they are crap!

Get some replacement 7" halogen lenses for a Mini, they will drop straight into the housings...

Stu,

Thanks for the advice, im having a bit of a thick day, i was all for shelling out and buying a whole set of new lights, didnt consider replacing the sealed beam units.......

Wot a nob!

I was under the impression that mini lights were a pile of pooh as well?

We are talking old style mini arn't we?

My wife's Eunos (MX5) had some sealed units on it when it first came in to the country. I replaced them with some raybrig 7" halogen replacements. They weren't cheap but they are so good.

It's not just the mini that uses 7" units

I used the 7" chrome lamps from here, passed SVA, very crisp beam patern, built in sidelamp, H4 halogen bulbs.

Yep. Plenty of halogen conversion kits available for them though. As Chockymonster says, plenty of others with 7 inch units too, but some do not come with the little windows for the sidelights (like MX5's for example). Mini's do however...
