I recently bought a ZX9 engine which I'm told had about 14000 miles and from ringing Kawasaki with the engine number I was told it was a C1 98 engine first registered 99. So anyhow, will this mean I'll be getting a Q plate? What constitutes one as I can't really prove what I know, unless I ring Kawasaki while they SVA it!

The Q or age related plate depends upon how many parts from the original donor (if there was one). The engine is just part of the list from which you must pick a certain number of parts. If you have a collection of random parts, a Q plate it is. Doesn't really matter too much after sva anyway.

No, don't mind a Q, just wondered what constituted it? As I can't have one whole donor cos of space and the angle of my drive then I guess I'll be having a Q.

Wonder if I get a say on the rest of the letters? A kinda Victor Meldrew sketch comes to mind when he bought a new car. With my luck the next letters will be summat like u,3,3,r. Not that I've nowt against that but would be funny eh?

when i got my Q plate had no say on the letters it was what was next in the list.

Aye figured it might be. Just looking at your avatar made me think though. Do you have to have a number plate on the front and where would it go without ruining the lines and shape?

My pic is from sva which is why no number plate fitted.
i fitted my front one on the bottom of the nose cone, however some have fitted stick on ones on top of the nose cone (do not know if these are legal) , i did drive around for a bit with no front number plate and nobody said a word, i would of used the old line it was there when i set off.

Seems fairly standard that. I've got a stick on plate on the mini that you can barely see from the front! It was a right sod to get on straight though due to the curves.
