P-clipping brake/fuel lines
StevieB - 3/9/06 at 05:08 PM

Hello all.

I can't seem to find the section in the SVA manual that refers to the max distance between fixings (300mm) and how they can be fixed.

Does anyone know if it's suitable to fix to the aluminium floor rather than a chassis rail (or an ali panel along the chassis rails)?

Cheers

Steve

If you fix them to the floor, I doubt they would last a week, these cars have a tendancy to bottom out regularly

Mine doesn't.

Just thought it might have been easier to fix than drilling through the chassis rails, plus it would prevent any possible reduction in the chassis strength.

Surely if the floor rivets don't get knocked off from bottoming out, the p-clips wont either?

Personally I wouldn't mount brake or fuel lines anywhere that risks getting grounded or hit by debris. It is surely best to mount them above the point of 'first contact' and tuck them away somewhere safe.
