Brake test light colour
RazMan - 19/9/06 at 12:13 PM

I would like to use a blue light instead of red for my brake warning (which has the required symbol) - does anyone know if this is ok?

I know the colour is stipulated for the hazard warning indicator light, so I can imagine it's stipulated the same for brake warning light.

Could you not make it red for SVA then change it out?

Yep - probably best to be on the safe side

We're talking about a dashboard light here - the police won't be bothered about an inside light (we've all got blue high-beam lights after all).

On a practical level, could it get mistaken for a high-beam light? Is it so bad to have a red light? It is a 'panic' light after all.

Sorry - must read more carefully in the future....

It is purely for the look of the dash - I have Savage switches which all have blue illumination except for the 'brake test' which is red. As I have used additional leds to show that the switch is activated, I want to change the 'brake test' to a blue led so that all the switches light up the same colour at night.
