I want to go to brands at the weekend but I have a problem, my new bonnet hasn't arrived, what is the law about not having one, can I say it blew
off?? or will I get nicked(if they can catch me)
Seriously though what do you think,
Andrew.
couldn't you get a sheet of ally, and make a temporary one??.
Ray
no I need a scoop on it for the intercooler, and Ive never attempted any metal work like that.
If I made one I probably wouldn't be able to see over it

Could you make some bonnet sides and pop them on temporarily , it would look ok from the sides then!!
2 sides with a 90degrees border for popping the flat piece on
if you can build a car you should be able to do this one!!
it atleast secures you from driveing....
Tks
There is a copper who I see regularly driving round ipswich in the summer, who has a hot rod with no bonnet... mind you he also has no front cycle wings so I guess it's a case of one rule for them and another for us ?
plod might say something but I would say it came off and went under your wheels or something.
Don't think you will end up in major touble over it, just could get stopped and asked!
very good question but dunno what the answer is.
in fact home much of you car can you remove and still be legal? I would image if it was part of the original design, then you can.
<<<--- For example, I have ex-military land rover; I could (& peple have) drive with the windscreen down, no doors and remove the rear
load bay as they were desgined for that puprose (make it lighter to drop of out planes).
I had a chat with a copper about this a while back as the carb on my mini pokes up through it. I couldn't be bothered to cut a hole for a while and the plod said it would probably be ok as long as belts and stuff are covered. Would it be possible to just cut holes in a big sheet of ally and just screw it on?
As DIY Si says. At this time of year it's likely you'll get caught in a shower - the electrics will probably not be happy getting that wet.
