What to do with Donor V5?
greggors84 - 16/11/06 at 11:32 PM

Got a reminder through the other day for the SORN on the sierra. Its long been scrapped, but kept the V5 for registering the Indy. Now I have the V5 through for the Indy shall I tell the DVLA that the sierra is scrapped?

Cant be arsed to remember to send off the forms every year!

Yep.

DVLA Wimbledon took the Sierra v5 off me when I registered the car. They told me they would register it as scrapped for me.

Goodness knows if they actually have!

Cheers,
James

Have a look on the registration lookup on www.rac.co.uk.
If it comes up as unknown it's been scrapped, if as the original sierra/escrot they might need a prod.

Ian

I tried checking the RAC website. It shows my donor still in existance, a loverly blue ford sierra, but no record of the Indy. This is over 12 months since registration.

However the DVLA / Govt website for taxing cars shows no record of the Sierra and has all the info on the Indy.

Looks like the RAC don't update the free database that often!

Thanks for that Mike,

I'd assumed the rac search was just a wrapper around a DVLA lookup. Rather lame they don't update as frequently as the official database.
I'll not bother with them again.

Cheers
Ian

Stockton DVLA took my donor V5 off me as part of the registration process. And guess what????.......yep 12 months later i get a sorn reminder for it!!

I had to send the reminder in with covering letter to explain. Now waiting for my fine!!!! (hopefully not).

Might be worth sending the V5 in and tick the scrapped box.
