Hi all been wondering for a while what is the order of everything that needs to be done to get the car on the road ie. sva, mot, dvla etc
regards

"Search" is your friend

thats great thank you will look harder in future do you need to let the dvla know the chassis number or is that done when applied for sva licence etc
need to search a bit more ... ask the DVLA local office nearest you - some let you choose your own VIN, some insist on allocating it for you
cheers guys will pop in next week there just down the road from me
cant wait for car to run
Ring DVLA see if they want to give you a chassis number (most do). Wallop the chassis number on, insure on chassis number, drive to SVA, get in contact with the DVLA, tell them to wee off when they say you need an MOT (or if you want to be polite ask them what it's going to show that an SVA test doesn't), wait half a year, get your registration documents Easy!!
just spoke to dvla they say they wont give me one because i need to register car so i said cant do till i get the number and sva but they said thats how its done will. this is already a nightmare i havent begun yet will pop in for visit monday
Can someone here help this guy out with a contact at his local office who knows what they are talking about?
You obviously just spoke to the cleaner
thats what i thought its a saturday too so the obviously could not be a##ed with any thing hard like that will be trying again on monday will go into the local lincoln office have a nice pleasent chat
Cheat.
Get in touch with paul jepson at kit car registrations! £35 and he does the whole lot for you, fills out all forms and goes to the dvla to beat them
up
thats no a bad idea thanks.
if i make up my own do i tell anyone till i apply for sva ? just found a vin calculator link on this site will use that i think
It sounds like your local DVLA office are of the opinion that its okay for you to make one up... Although UK built cars should have a 17 digit
chassis number, this isn't a total necessity. Though it makes registration easier so why not do it...
As long as you come up with a chassis identifier that no-one else is likely to come up with then it's pretty easy to DIY.
I'd make up your own chassis number and get the DVLA involved again a few weeks prior to SVA. Sometimes they'll do the inspection before
SVA, sometimes they'll only do it when you have the MAC (ministers approval certificate- from passing SVA).
The whole things often a real PITA see
