Just got my V5 after registering and I have noticed that despite the SVA tester entering 'N/A' in the emissions boxes on the MAC, the V5
has
'%CO 3.5 : HC 0.12'
written in the special notes section.
Is this ok or will I have a problem when it comes to MOT time?
May be worth ringing he dval/vosa to ask them, as some do seem to be having this potential issue recently. It shouldn't be an issue for now, but tuning could be an a future problem. Mine doesn't say anything, so it may be worth asking a friendly mot place to see what the computer says. Even having said that, my local MOT tester said he'd pass mine even if it failed the emissions as it would get used so little! It wasn't a problem in the end anyways.
Are you on a Q plate?
I am told that most MOT testers think that Q's only need a visual check, despite the fact that requirements are shown on V5.
Chances are they will see the Q and do visual only. Besides, its three years off from now!
The figures on your V5 are based on engine year. Mine are 4.5 and 0.12.
What engine are you running?
I'm on a 2007 plate and running a 1997 2.5 Duratec V6. The SVA tester apparently couldn't find it in the database so he had to pass it as a
non cat engine and added that I would have to make sure the MOT guys knew it was a non cat or they would get confused ....... but it seems the
confusion has started already.

You could always just sell it before it gets to 3 years old!
My V5 has no notes on emissions so I'm not sure what the MOT man will use with me on an H plate
You have nothing to be worried about,CO 3.5,& HC 0.12,is a NONE cat test, for all vehicles manufactured before August 92,It will now be on all the
MOT testing station computers as that,a none cat test, just count yourself very lucky you have managed to beat the system, having a 97 engine, and a 2007
year plate,just keep it quiet.
What It should say on your v5,cat test CO;0.5,HC 200PPM,which equates to 0.2HC.at these levels they could only be passed with a working cat fitted.

on an F with pre 86 engine ( was )
on my V5 in the notes it states 4.5CO,0.12HC ,
should be doable in a couple of years time especially with the aftermarket ecu!!

i had a Q reg and my v5 had the emissions on the bottom of it, took it for a mot.
when i got the mot certificate back it stated date of first use 1971. and was tested as a smoke test only.
i did question the garage about this as it is quite clearly a zetec engine and they said can do nothing about the date the computer puts it on.
Yup,
She's a '74 'Tina lump! Although fully rebuilt a few years back. Passed my emmsions at SVA easily. NOt sure about three years time as
the Carbs may have been tweaked a little since my test! :-)
Guess i'll just have to turn her back to a lean clean petrol sipping machine!
