new?

I apologise if this sounds like a bit of a stupid question but...

Does "re-conditioned" but with a receipt (i.e. reconditioned by a professional) count as a "new" item to the DVLA?

If so does that mean I can use re-conditioned sierra bits and still get my "new" registration plate?

And if it is going for a new reg plate does it still have to go though an SVA? (Does a car built from a single donor? i.e age related

I think you are only allowed one major reconditioned part under the regulations, probably the engine, but you should probably check with your local DVLO as they seem to vary in their interpretations.

yours, Pete.

Peteff is correct - if you go for a new plate, one item can be recon/ refurb/as new. I went for the new plate option. However, Ive got a Q!

Of course, if you had a receipt stating it was "new old stock", thats a different matter. Might be a bit dodgy if the item in question looks 20 years old though!
