Somehow I missed a 'Permit holders only' sign when I parked in a side street. I didn't see the plastic envelope until I turned the
wipers on .... and by then it was too late as I was on the dual carriageway and it just flew over the roof and dissappeared.
It's a fair cop but as this is my first parking ticket in 36 years of driving what should I do now? I havent got the paperwork to pay any fine -
how much are we talking about anyway? Do I just wait until I get a postal demand of should I see if I can confess and pay early (if it saves me some
cash)
Any ideas guys?

Most parking tickets double in about 2 weeks from the day they were given to you so if you were in the wrong, best to pay up as soon as possible
Agree with Arry. If you plan to pay, do it ASAP as the fine goes up.
How you track down the right people to contact I really don't know!
Best of luck with it!

Or you could deny ever seing the ticket.
Wait for a summons to Mags Court.
Turn up on the day and say you never received the ticket - someone must have taken it off your car.
Sign a statutory declaration to confirm the above.
End of story.

A Statutory Declaration won't provide you with a defence but merely starts the proceedings again.
If you want to pay the ticket, then you should contact the local authority (District Council?) which covers the street in question. Give them the reg
number and location and ask for the Penalty Notice reference. If they can't or won't provide you with that reference then you should find
out how much the penlties are in that area ( usually £80 but halved if paid within 14 days) and send them a cheque in that amount with a covering
letter stating the date & location of the incident, your reg number and your details and informing them of the loss of the Penalty Notice. Then if
they fail to deal with the matter and you later get a summons for non-payment, you have good grounds for disputing the allegation of late payment
etc.
Please note i am not trying to persuade you to pay the parking ticket if you don't want to but merely advising how to cover your back if you do.
Above all, KEEP COPIES OF YOUR CORRESPONDENCE including notes of any phone calls you make ( time/date, number called and the name/position of the
person you spoke to, even if they just say they will phone you back.
So if I really had no knowledge of the ticket (and I am genuinely just assuming that the yellow flash going skywards WAS a ticket) I would get a
summons for £80 with no chance of appeal?
Hmmm maybe I had better cur my losses and give them a ring on Monday to fess up
All I can say is that if a ticket was issued to your registration (and lets face it, there aren't that many of your car around) and it isn't paid, then that's all the system will show. I can't imagine that any local authority is beneavolent enough to let off everyone who doesn't pay a ticket and therfore they will institute proceedings for recovery of the unpaid penalty. That will undoubtedly involve lawyers of some sort and they never come free of charge ( I should know)
The ones round here are in clear self adhesive envelopes and stick to the screen, not under the wipers, you couldn't miss them when you sit in the drivers seat.
I take it was your kit car you got the ticket on?
If you got a ticket and the make and model is incorrect, then you could appeal.
If you do not have the make and model on the car, then the ticket won`t have it on it (as how many parking attendants know about kit cars?)
A ticket must be 100% correct.
If you say the ticket details are incorrect then they might cancel?
Just a thought?
Lol, i like your thinking turbodisplay
You could write a letter to blag it. I had one for not paying and displaying in Portsmouth, I told them the machine wouldn't accept my pound
coins and they let me off. They did say they were aware of the problem thought... ( although I wasn't )
You could say the sign was defaced or poorly placed and you feel the fee is unfair? If the sign was clearer you would have noticed it etc....
