I will shortly be undertaking the build of an MNR Vortex with a 2005 zx10r engine, but some of the parts may be reconditioned, so my question is

What are the sva/dvla requirements for obtaining a new plate as oposed to a Q plate for a car where most of the components are new i.e. does everything have to be new or are you allowed a percentage to be reconditioned?

Also what are the requirements for an age related plate?

Basically for a new plate it all must be new except one item whic may be reconditioned to as new condition,
If lot of bits from various sources then it becomes a Q plate
But if you have a donor and score enough points it will be age related

don't worry about it, get a Q plate (unless you want a private plate). easier for emissions at MOT time

Do a search, I have found I have repeated myself too much!
My local vro used a point system for an age related plate.
For an age related plate a donor is required. They used a points system.
Most componants counted as 1 point.
Eg. Engine 1 point, transmission 1 point etc.
They required 8 points. Luckily, a new chassis counts as 5 points. Just supply a reciept for yours.

I have heard that some have got a certificate of newness from kit manufacturer and been issued with current (new) plate. Not sure how it works.
