just finishing off the forms for the SVA, and I have a question
Q13 asks for max road speed and max power speed.
I'm using a 1300 xflow and 4 speed, so would 110mph and 4750rpm sound about right?
Q15 asks for axle loads? so I think
axle 1 = 750kg
axle2 = 750kg
axle3 = N/A
gross = 750kg
train = N/A
do these sound about right?

110mph sounds about right for max speed. They use it to check tyre ratings are OK and speedo can read it.
For max revs i used something similar for Pinto but at the test he told me what he wanted me to use for the noise test.
I used 425KG for axle 1 and 2 with a gross of 850. I think others may have used a little more. They use this in the brake efficiency calculator to
determine if the brake results are adequate so you dont want the combined weight to be too high (hopefully someone will confirm this).
if your gross is 750 your axle weights will have to be half that, ie 375,
Axle weights do not have to add up to gross weight, they depend solely on the strength of the axles. On most vehicles the axle weights will add up to
quite a bit more than the gross weight to allow for variations in load distribution.
I would go for a higher gross weight. Your car will weigh about 500kg unladen so with 2 large people and some luggage you could go over 750 and be
liable for prosecution I'd go for at least 900kg ish.

pretty sure 110 mph is what I used - the BOOK gives max speeds for cars with different engines (not BECs!) and tht is t he figure they quote. I
doulbe you will achive that but......
The speedo must indicate tht on the dial but the car won't be tested at that speed at SVA.
Haynes manual states max power rpm - you may have different cam - and this is for noise measurement whcih is done t 2/3of that. Obvioulsy you donlt
want to put as low rpm as possible but the SVA boys aren't stupid so you wont fool them.

100 mph top speed.
5000 max revs.

I had a bit of trouble at SVA when the gross didnt add up to the 2 axle weights. He was going to make me get letter from manufacturer etc but in the ended allowed me to mod the application form and initial the change as if id made an error (which is what i actually did). The reason for being cautios was the way they use the axle weights to calculate brake efficiency.

Mine is shown as 500 front, 400 rear, 900 gross
Remember that the revs figure is supposed to be where your engine develops its max power - this can vary depending on lots of things like Compression
ratio, cam etc.
As others have said, you can't take the pi$$ but you do need to keep the figure low as it determines at what revs the noise test is carried out.
