Windscreen top edge
Bluemoon - 23/8/07 at 09:47 AM

Hi all,

Will the top of the windscreen (ali channel) have a radius'ed at more than 2.5mm?

I think this is the case if you follow the SVA manual to the letter, but do I actually need to do this?

If I have to radius the screen I don't think I have enough material thickness to do this! Any ideas? (apart form not fitting it for the SVA).

Thanks

Dan

Perhaps leave the screen off until after SVA,
Steve.

Mine had ~1.5mm radius (2.5mm wall channel IIRC) on the fly screen supports and passed the SVA, I assume he just ran his hand over it or figured it was good enough. Depends who tests it I suppose!

Hi Jk,

That's what I wondered. Suck it and see! I suspect if the car is well presented and I have made the effort on radius were I can it might go though, after all if you about to hit the top of the windscreen, I doubt if you care if it's a 1.5mm to 3mm radius edge you about to hit!

Have you any pics of how you have done your demisters?

edspurrier - 23/8/07 at 08:51 PM

SVA manual says "blunted" windscreen surrounds, separate from radius requirements.

Thanks edspurrier, that's good news.

Stevec, not done the demisters yet! the idea is to hide them between the step and the windscreen on the MK scuttle. You will not see them! Only just finished making the heater box to fit the sierra matrix/fan.

A heated screen from the likes of Caterham will do for the demister - got mine for £80 including surround. Bargain.
