Age related plate on a BEC

Will i need the V5 from the bike that im using the engine from to get an age related plate?

Proof of engine year is all you need, not a V5.
You can get proof via the bike maker or a suitable haynes manual showing the engine number years.

nope, just the v5 from the sierra you're using as your donor, as that's the thing that all the parts you're relating the age to come
from.
they didn't even look at my paperwork when i registered. just saw that it was present in a folder and went on what i'd written on the
form

It depends what age related plate you want. You will need a V5 for an age related plate and you can use either the donor bikes V5 or the donor Sierra
V5. Choice is yours......

doesn't it work on a points system? egnine = some points, transission some more, axles etc. You can just about get tenuf points with a car
but a bike?!!?

No, for a 'kit conversion' as DVLA call it (or kit car / locost as we call it) you require 2 'major' components from the donor.
Major includes engine, gearbox, suspension, steering, axles. The points system is for 'radically altered vehicles' and is to decide if the
vehicle should keep its old reg or get a Q plate.

Matt is correct.
The 'Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report' V627/1, list major components for a car as;
Chassis/Body Shell
Axles
Transmission
Steering Assembly
Engine
Suspension (front and back)
You only need to use 2 of the above from a donor vehicle to qualify for an age related plate, so you could use either the Sierra or the Motorbike as
the donor vehicle, provided you have the V5.
Engine and Transmission from the bike will give you the required points to qualify for an age related plate, based on the age of the motorbike.
