does a speedo need to be dual marked for SVA i.e both mph and km markings on the gauge.

I really do hope not as mine is only mph and when bought was told it was compliant. I though it just needed to be mph and accurate to within a % of true speed

Can anyone confirm and put my mind at rest

Thanks

mph only is fine so long as it within the test speed limits

The speedo must show in MPH.

KPH is an optional extra.

(just checked in my SVA Manual.)

It should also:

1. work and be accurate within limits.
2. must show a maximum speed equal to, or greater than, the declared maximum speed of the car.
3. must display speed intervals no greater than 20mph (mine is 10, 30, 50, 70, etc., which is OK).
4. Must be readable at all times.

The Government have not gone metric yet. They just prosecute anyone else that hasn't!
