Just after a general concensus. After some more bashing, swearing and bleeding fingers I've managed to get this much on the bottom of the dash. Do we reckon this is curly enough for the man? (or woman even )

the diamerter has to be 38 mm;

the amount the dash continues up the back I don't know - as it depends on the position of the contacting sphere - you would need to read the SVA manual to figure this out.

Yeah I have the 19mm radius but the book don't say how far up the back it has to go so in theory that should be fine. Thats in theory though, I'm betting SVA aren't open to discussion and just make their own minds up

I was told that if it turned back on itself ie 180 degrees than that would be fine,

put a panel under the dash, resting on that lip then anything above is not accessible

That's what I did - used a bit of old plastic bath panel, so it's flexible enough to bend into position and not need fixings

Aye it may still have the edge present which will inevitably end up jamming in my knee knowing my luck!

I used 40mm diameter round plastic tube glued on with a hot glue gun, which accidently fell off as soon as I got home.

But don't forget the bolts and nuts underneath the dash if you don't panel it as Martin at Nottingham insisted they had to have covers on as well.
