hi i have just changed my engine and when filling in the log book it said it might be called for a check for manjor changes have any of you changed your enginge and let the dvla know and what happend. i did this on a car b4 and all was fine but wondered if it would be diffent on a kit car thanks
I've not had a problem with changes of engine number and capacity but the thing I have noticed is that they can only cope with one change at a
time. You may have to send in your V5C again if you have changed both capacity and engine number. This happened to me recently with one of my
vehicles.
John
so no prob with another check as im having a r1 race can fitted and i know they wont like that when it has not for road use stamped on it lol
My experience was the same as John above,
Providing the taxation class is not changed then it should be straightforward, I went from 998cc to 1800cc. which is a increase in duty and they made
me tax it at a local office the first time instead of online which was a pain, When I first sent them the amended log book they returned it to me with
the engine number changed but not the capacity, when I rang them they said that when I go to the local office they would take the log book off me
again and then post it back to me with the amended capacity.
Hope that makes some sort of sense.
Steve.

If your increasing the engine capacity they are generally fine. If you are decreasing and therefore changing tax bracket then they can request an inspection... As you'd expect - they wouldn't want to lose precious TAX!
cheers for that
