Afternoon all
Just about to fit my rear reflectors and need some clarification.
I understand that the max distance in from the outside of the car is 400mm. Minimum distance between is 600mm.
Here is my problem, I was going to fit a centre rear fog half way up the rear panel (Hella style with a red reflective outer ring.
This of course will be more than 400mm in form edge and less than 600mm to other reflectors.
If I cover up the reflective surface for SVA would that be okay. I need the outer ring to attach the actual rear fog to so I can't leave it off
until after the test.
Any ideas much appreciated.
Cheers
Nigel
I would have thought the idea would be to fit two (temporary if you like ) reflectors at the required distance while retaining the central one. I don't see them makining you down for having an extra bit of reflective surface.
Just cover the reflective ring with tape for SVA but make it look permanent. Fit some small self adhesive reflectors on the rear wings and then you
can remove/uncover the reflectors afterwards if that is what you wish to do.

It doesn't matter if you have extra reflectors above the requirement. In fact you can plaster the rear of your vehicle in as much red retro-reflective material as you like (eg RAC vans etc). You can also put yellow on the sides and white on the front if you like.

just remember reflectors are a legal and mot requirement fitted to each side of the vehicle in aproximately the same position as each other.
additional reflectors as per the central ring you describe are for the pupose of an MOT/SVA not testable but not illegal either
just fit some nice subtle ones to the rear arches

bigrich, where did you find that reflector?
On Mac#1's shelves.
the hella lights also come with silver rings. They're used on the Ford Street Ka. You don't need to cover it up at all then.
