Amateur Built Declaration
farmer.palmer - 1/2/08 at 07:36 AM

Has anybody here bought a part completed build that they have then SVA'd themselves?

If so did you tick the box on the amateur built declaration which states that The vehicle was partially built by an individual for his/her own personal use and I purchased the vehicle in a partially completed condition

What are the implications of ticking this box or should I just tick the box that states that I built it and make up some receipts?

cheers

james

Just say you built it. It'll be a lot less hassle!

You dont need any receipts for SVA or DVLA. DVLA only want them if you want an age related plate. I didnt show any of my receipts to anyone although I have a huge folder full!

Agreed, it is only relavent if you are going for a new or age related registration with DVLA. No need to complicate matters if you are happy with a Q

I bought a part-built car from someone else (a private builder). I signed the declaration that "I" had built it with the rationale that the question was aimed more at whether it was professionally/ameteur buitl rather than specifically who built it.

As mentioned, less hassle than getting into pedantic arguments

me too; also said I built it. seemed it ewas gonna be less hassle since I expected that the DBVLA would start asking about who built what and so on - mine whent through about 4 or 5 owners

as above say that you built it

Okay

I'll tick the box which says I built it, but then it still asks for major receipts (which I don't have) and photo's of the build process (of which I have some).

What did you supply for evidence of the build?

cheers

NOW when you apply for the SVA VOSA will send out a second form requesting photos and reciets - They will not send your forms to the sva centre until they are satisfied that it is an ameter build.
