Hi! to make my steering column less cluttered I am thinking of removing the idnition swtich from the column and fitting a switch and push button into
the dash. Problem is that the column lock will go with it. I understand you need two security devices on the car.. Has anyone else done this and what
two devices have they used for SVA?
thanks

my column has been machined to remove the switch gear and ignition lock etc, so i have an ignition switch on the dash and an FIA type switch under the bonnet, I have used this method on both cars i have built and SVA'd
electronic immobiliser would do te trick too, either the type wit a key ring you plug in, or transponder type
big rich, it that the base of a computer joystick on your dash?
A simple battery isolation switch can be one of the security methods.
can you not just leave the the swithc on the column then change post sva? just a thought
A key switch on the dashboard and a battery isolator switch did it for me.
Personally I think QR steering wheels should also count but it appears usually they cause more problem than they get rid of....

quote:It has to immobilise the engine as well as lock the steering if you use the column switchgear, if you can lock the column with the engine running it is a bit dangerous. It's probably more of a wiring job than you want to do twice as well.

My column is same as Rich's. I have key switch and push button, and an ignition immobiliser (cat 2 type device). Passed no problem.

O.k. I have spent the day with the old die grinder removing the ignition switch and all other bits! So the question is now what options do I have for
the indicator and horn switches for SVA? How have people mounted them In the dash or on the column?
Big Rich what did you do?
thanks
