is there one? or how do you get a built bike legal, don't think I've ever seen a bike with a q plate.
Yes, it's called the MSVA.

You'll see it's also the test for quadricycles (see locost ATOM thread).
oh cheers I've never even heard of it before
I have a copy of the MSVA manual. It is similar to ordinary SVA really. There doesn't appear to be a test for brake balance. The emissions test is easier. There are tests for stands and things for 2 wheeled vehicles. I bought the manual for the rules on lights, which are different to SVA, even if you have 4 wheels.
Several years ago my chum bought a crashed Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP as a project. It was missing it's ID but he got the plod at York Stolen Vehicle
dept to check the bike over before he bought it.
When he came to register it, DVLA sent him a form to fill in. Which is what he did. Then every year he had the hassle of explaining to the insurance
guys and the muppets at the post office that his bike really was registered as a "Barking Fish Grater". It was on a Q plate.

That'd be right hand, front brake; right foot, rear brake
Not on an old Brit though
