Anti corision and Mr SVA?
tegwin - 12/3/08 at 04:00 PM

Does Mr SVA check to see if the correct anti corosion coating has been put on metal on the car?

Im only asking because there are a couple of unpainted brackets with minor surface rust....will be object?

the plan is to pull it appart after the test and paint it all anyway..

I don't think this is part of the SVA.

Why not paint it first?

I haven't seen a regulation regarding rust prevention. There are plenty about construction. Could he perhaps say that the construction was such that rust could cause failure early in the vehicle's life?

I've heard it said that a well presented car impresses MR SVA from the start and so he's less likely to go looking for faults, where an unfinished rusty old knacker makes him think theres something wrong somewhere.

Are you panicking or what?!

next we'll have 'what's requirement for the paint film thickness test?'

If it's not in the book, he won't check check it - simple as that.

If rust prevention was part of the sva, then it would certainly have to be part of type approval, and where would that leave Fiat, or Alfa? Or anything else vaguely Italian.
