Brake Pipes
The Baron - 11/4/08 at 09:06 PM

I currently have the brake pipe across my rear axel held in place with tie wraps, is this ok for SVA, or should I use something a little more robust like jubilee clips?

Cheers,

B

I would be inclined to use small P clips and rivet them to the axle to hold your brake line sturdy and prevent it from movement/chafing. I don`t think SVA will like cable tied brake lines. I think you also need to secure a brake pipe every 70 or 75mm? I had to for my SVA.

jebus H christ snippy!

sva requirement for brake pipe clipping is 300mm afaik. it's what i worked to anyway.

i think if you put some rubber pipe around the hose then cable tied over it, that should be acceptable.

If it's a live axel I would'nt drill holes in it.. That's going to cause trouble...

SVA isn't too keen on cable ties

Before flairing the pipe slip a a few short lengths of rubber or plastic hose on to prevent chaffing and use a couple of jubilee clips round the axle. If the orignal tags are broken at the diff area you will either need to weld some on or if you have a Cortina style axle use the bolts for the rear diff cover with some fabricated brakets.

You only need to support the pipe every 300mmm (ie roughly 1 foot).
