perferated (spell?) exhaust heat shield
Valtra - 26/6/08 at 01:09 PM

Is it Sva friendly to have a perferated heat shield on my exhaust ? and is there a heat proof edge trim for the ends of my silencer (old but unused Caterham) or heat shield if I fit it for SVA ?

so long as the perforations are pointing in the way. Old washing machine drums seem to be popular.

recommended practice is not to fit one due to the holes (sharp edges) and the edges; you can fit rubber trim round that but some sites frown on rubber bits being fitted to exhaust systems = fail.

funnily enough, SVA does not care if the passenger's legs get burnt on the exhaust.

so do not fit unless you have a good reason to i.e. it hides sharp edges.

If you want one, best to fit it post SVA....

SVA mentality:

Sharp edges BOOOOOOOOOOO
Glowing red hot exhausts- Yey!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys . as I suspected the only problem is now that the silencer box ends are the traditional type. the edge is thick and smooth welded but will it need a trim to save grazing the neck of the pedestrian that' made it un-scathed through the front suspension ? any simple sugestions greatfully received
