Does my car need an MOT?
stuart_g - 27/6/08 at 08:11 AM

I have got my car through SVA and am now tackling DVLA. It is going to be on an age related plate, do I need an MOT before I can register it?

When I first took the paperwork to DVLA they didn't mention it but the incompetence of the person I saw I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with it this time.

answer is no.

MOT test different items to SVA ; usual esxample is the for SVA tyres can be bald providing they are correct size and speed rating; they would fail MOT test.

No mot for three years unless you mot it then it needs one every year.

Could you not get it mot checked but not put on the system? That way things like emmisions that ARE tested at SVA would be correct.

I've asked my local garage that and they said they'd happily test everything on an MOT test sheet without it being offical.

Cost £25 with print outs from emissions machine etc.
