Exhaust radii... MR SVA friendly

Also posted this on wscc but I reckon you guys are a bit more resourceful on here...

I am having some problems with my Dunnell silencer (2nd hand). There are radii on it which I believe Mr SVA won't like.

Anyone have any suggestions of what can be done?

The exit is also a problem but I have put on section of copper pipe to cover it. Anyone reckon I'll get away with this?

Cheers

C

Get yourself some bandage for the front , your outlet looks fairly "radiussed" Rescued attachment 181_8114s.jpg

What size exit is it? You can buy stainless steel rings from chandlers online in various diameters.

This is what I did with mine.

2inch 90 degree stainless bend with a 6mm thick 2inch diameter stainless ring.

They fit together very well on their own.

I fully welded round the join. I wont show you a pic of the weld as it was fairly appalling. First time with stainless and pure argon and I can only weld in straight or wavey lines and not circles .

I then ground down the edges and polished up. Since this pic I have another stab at polishing and making the inside edge a little more circular. Stainless is so hard though to polish and shape. Ally is much easier.

Could you make a cone out of steel or ally for the other end of the silencer to cover those strips? My R1 bike can has a cone made of ally that covers all the ugly gubbins like that.
