I recently aquired some very nice 5" chromed headlights from one of the shows.
However there is no markings on the glass lenses. Have i slipped up??
only slightly! i'd try to borrow some compliant lights off a local builder for the SVA, then you can use the minters thereafter!
i'm not a builder..i'm an electrician.......but i can lend you a couple of 8' twin fluorescents if you like.....
to walk in the front of your vehicule with a candle powered lantern. You remember - like they did in the '20's...
You need an E4 marking on the lens to prove is compliant for SVA. IIRC...
Why specifically E4??
They don't always look for the marks. As long as the lights comply to the standard they should still pass. It says E4 on mine but if you
don't turn the lens they dip to the right (continental).
yours, Pete.
As Pete says, they don't have to have the marking - but if they don't then you have to prove that they are equivalent.
If they are marked then that's the end of the discussion.

my lights have e13 on em, is that ok?
theyre from motor bike.
Cheers,
Russ.
thought any "E" marking was ok. From memory the E number just states the european state where the component was first approved for use, rather than the country it was intended to be used in.
thnx lads
I might just try & 'wing it' then

IIRC, it has to be a correct E mark. I heard that somewhere on a thread to do with using an e marked light in a different role, ie a reverse light being used as a front side light. not sure though...
Here's what my SVA manual says:
Dipped beam - C (S - sealed beam, H - Halogen)
with <--- or <-----> or BS AU40
Main beam - R (S - sealed beam, H - Halogen)
or BS AU40
Had a look at my headlights - they show:
HR/C A
02 02
---->
In other words, halogen, dip & main, with sidelight.
