Chassis number - DVLA???

I need a chassis number for SVA. So the question is, do I make one up (which is what I did last time) or should I go to my local DVLA office and get them to give me one. I've heard this can cause problems with them wanting to see the car first.....

Pretty sure my one was made up by the builder!

Make one up, do to the local office and ask the Inspection Officer to check it out.

Does your Stylus not have one?

JP used to stamp them onto one of the engine bars....

Not that I can find, and I've had a good look around, will have another go though.....

Make it up. Much more fun (and hassle)

Well, I decided to do it the 'right' way (makes a change for me!).

Very simple, just went to my local office, filled in a form, an inspector will come out in 2 weeks, then give me a number, then SVA, then the local office will produce the reg/V5 without any further delay (apparently!!)
