Does there have to be a sealed fire wall between the engine bay and the cockpit?

All will be sealed on mine except at the moment there is a slot in the shelf in the engine bay where the accelarator pedal pokes through. Will I have to box this in for the SVA? Obviously it would be advisable but is it a requirement?

No, you don't need to have a sealed barrier.
