Gents,
I'm about to instal Sabelts on my MK and a trial fitting throws up a few questions about the rear mountings.
1. Do the harness end-plates need to be covered with edging trim to eliminate their sharp edges? If so, small section is a bit too small for the 1/8
inch thick plates, but can be persuaded on. However, securing it with a tie-wrap (inside the end-loop) doesn't look too good.
The bigger section doesn't want to bend enough.
2. The bolt/spacer/end-plate all seems a bit slack when assembled - i.e. the end-plate flops around more than seems reasonable.
3. Should I fit washers under the bolt heads? The bolt head isn't that much bigger than the hole in the end-plate!

I had the same problem. After trying several things, I left the edges bare and had no problem, but I think it might depend on the individual tester. I
think what you have done should be OK, but I would try and twist the cut-off end of the cable tie underneath.
Also, I did put covers on the bolt heads.
Re the rattling problem, It is because the shape of the spacers does not allow the plates to be botled down tight - deliberately, to allow some
rotational movement. It should be fine i.e. safe. However, I found the rattling very annoying and solved it by slipping some heater hose over the
tophat spacer thingies so the the hose was just a bit longer than the section of spacer. When tighten up, there is still enough room for some movement
but the rubber stops the rattling.

This was just an trial fitting, so no cover on the bolt head yet.
The bolts are the ones supplied with the belts! I can source some 12.9s; and I think both a washer and some rubber would be reassuring additions.
BTW, how do you embed the picture?

Also, all components must be 'suitably protected against corrosion, eg plated or coated'.
So 8.8 cadmium plated hex-head bolts are OK
