According to my SVA summary, the tail lights must be no more than 400mm from the edge of the vehicle. Unfortunately, my wheels use a good 200mm of
that, and the unit is around 350mm wide. So even if i put them at the edge of the back panel they will be too far in, plus they are too wide to go on
the wheel arch.
any ideas anyone?!
I'm guessing you dont want to/cant mount them vertically then.
Is the glass bit one piece? I'm wondering (but doubtful) if you could get away with the fact that the edge the glass is within the distance, but
they'll probably measure to the illuminated section of the glass.
Dont think you've got much choice but to find some different lights.
You'll have to get some smaller ones and mount them on the wings then, sorry. Could you put some brackets on or some kind of pod to mount them on
the wing so they are flush with the panel and can mount partly overlapping.
yours, Pete.
since i'll have to make or modify my fibreglass anyway, i guess i may as well try to embed them in the arch.
funnily enough, my rear wheels are the rearmost piece of the car, as the drive shafts are level with the rear panel! this is gonna lead to some odd
shaped panels and arches!!
i think im gonna read gusters site and then buy some glass to experiment with before i have to do it for real...
thanks for the help anyway guys!
Any pictures?
i think we can leave the pictures out for now, dont you?! at least till i've made it square
Come on Joel, don't be shy
Sounds interesting!
those dimensions apply to the outermost and bottom most parts of the lense.
so, if your illuminated rear glass starts at 390mm from the outside of the car, and the rest is way in board, its OK.
