Daihatsu hijet steering rack

I'm looking for a very short steering rack. the Daihatsu hijet, bedford rascal and susike super carry use these:

How do these work then. Do they push and pull from one end only? How do you get 2 track rods onto it without them twisting?Image deleted by owner

I think the idea is that the rack is connected to one of the front hubs then there is a link bar from that hub to the other.

The Suzuki Carry uses one end of the rack to operate a drag link and tie rod arrangement (similar to Landies and most commercial vehicles with steering boxes).

I posted a pic of the setup here, back in March 2005!
